Against All Odds

Against All Odds

A wise man, aka Albert Einstein once said "Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving." Sounds so easy and simple right? Yet anyone who has experienced life in any a manner can unanimously agree that it isn't so easy after all, simple maybe but easy hardly. See, the simplicity of a thing doesn't guarantee ease and although it is as simple as to "keep moving" the fact is there are many odds that may incline one to desire to stop or to even become unconsciously stuck from fear. Fear of the unknown, fear that they're not good enough or has what it takes to beat the odds or even recover from the temporary defeat that the odds have handed them. In this sense life is like riding a bicycle and oftentimes while riding a bicycle we fall off, the chain pops, catch a flat tire/low air pressure, go up steep hills or lose control going down one or sometimes even hit by a vehicle and knocked flying off and oftentimes in those moments we feel like "now what?' "should I even get back on?" "was it my fault?" "can I trust myself or others/my surroundings?" And that's what makes the concept of to simply "keep moving" in order to maintain balance  so difficult. Because we tend to overlook that falling off of balance is in fact an essential part of the balancing act, sometimes we're on and sometimes we're off balance because the term "balance" itself is simply an even distribution of different elements and it wouldn't be an act of "balance" at all if there were only one element of the act. Once I've learned this lesson, I began to become much more confident and consequently better at the act of balancing of life. I now know that to "keep moving" doesn't mean I don't fall down but rather I continue in spite of the fall. The fact of the matter is the odds are against us just as equally as they are for us, in fact the odds of even being conceived were greatly against us, billions to be specific. But the odds are no match for the resilience of the great human spirit and to realize that one can and is a winner against any and all odds is how you win. See, winning a mentality not a destination. You become a winner on the journey in the process of realizing you were not born but created and conceived a winner and from that discovery you then maneuver as a winner even when you're not "winning" because "winning" is simply not giving up/in against all and any odds that you may encounter.

"Always do your best don't let the pressure make you panic and when you get stranded and things don't go the way you planned it."

Word is Bond

Word Is Bond “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God” (John1:1 )…..if I’m not mistaken I believe scripture is stating that God’s Word is his bond or even that he and all any of us ever truly have is his word, which is sufficient. How many times have you uttered or heard the phrases, “word is bond” or “all I have is my word”? I’m assuming quite enough   but I don’t think we really, fully grasp the spiritual magnitude those phrases holds. At least I know I didn’t up until I found myself back at that messy part of this healing journey, the “pain pit stop”! Where I’m experiencing a new cycle of pain and for a moment was temporarily tempted to “stop & fold at hurt” ( Blog #5, “When It Hurts-It Hurts”) simply because, well honestly, I was hurting. But then I recalled during a previous cycle of pain when I received one of the simplest yet most profound advice to simply “follow my words”. After all, my word is my bond right? See...

Note To Self- Trust The Mofo Process (TTMP)

Trust The Process Growing up, I've always heard folks amongst me say faith & fear/worry can't occupy the same space as well as worry or fear is the opposite of faith and that if you trust & have faith in God then there's no need to be worried. Now, while I agree that faith should diminish fear I've also learned that the true opposition to faith is in fact SIGHT.  I've gotten this lesson first hand through experimenting with "fortune telling". I found that even after "reading the signs"& coming to ones own interpretation or even receiving great news of things to come that I still couldn't find the peace of mind that my soul yearned to get me through the here & now and all the ups and downs it brings. After a series of lessons....& readings Allah revealed to me through a message delivered by Pastor Phil Munsey titled "Are We There Yet". See, Faith is much deeper than believing & knowing of the magn...

Peace by Piece

Peace By Piece Oftentimes when we’re looking for peace (of mind) we go on a hunt. We search through music, film, literature, speeches/lectures, therapy, interpersonal stimulating discussions & even prayer all in attempts to find a word which will bring us peace (of mind). But as we progress to yearn for true inner peace on the highest level those things seem to only scratch the surface providing the illusion of temporary peace that lasts only for as long as your program of choice. But I’ve come to find that true peace of mind is obtained piece by piece through moments of peace and quiet(ness). Only when I quiet my mind am I able to experience true peace regardless of how fleeting that moment may be/appear to be, it is real, which means in reality it is eternal, I simply have to remember to remain tuned into it. See, because as we all know oftentimes our own mind can be our worst and a lot of the times our only real enemy we have right? Or at least the only enemy w...
