Peace by Piece

Peace By Piece Oftentimes when we’re looking for peace (of mind) we go on a hunt. We search through music, film, literature, speeches/lectures, therapy, interpersonal stimulating discussions & even prayer all in attempts to find a word which will bring us peace (of mind). But as we progress to yearn for true inner peace on the highest level those things seem to only scratch the surface providing the illusion of temporary peace that lasts only for as long as your program of choice. But I’ve come to find that true peace of mind is obtained piece by piece through moments of peace and quiet(ness). Only when I quiet my mind am I able to experience true peace regardless of how fleeting that moment may be/appear to be, it is real, which means in reality it is eternal, I simply have to remember to remain tuned into it. See, because as we all know oftentimes our own mind can be our worst and a lot of the times our only real enemy we have right? Or at least the only enemy w...

Grace (God's)

Grace (God's) Grace , divine favor bestowed freely on people as in granting redemption from sin. An excellence or power granted by God. A short prayer of blessing or thanksgiving said before or after a meal. Seemingly effortless beauty or charm of movement, form or proportion. A disposition to be generous or helpful, goodwill. These are different definitions or rather perceptions of what Grace is/can be. To put it simply I perceive Grace to be an undeserving new chance or beginning. The opportunity to start all over, regardless the prior or current circumstances. If you’re anything like me I bet, you often wonder “why does God give his Grace so generously?” Well, I think he simply has no choice or else the world as we know it would have to just cease to exist because without Grace (God’s) or even the grace of one another everything, person & idea would cease to be. If God almighty no longer wanted to provide you and I with his Grace, he’d simply take our ...

To Live & Die in LA (Home)

To Live & Die in LA (Home) Some say, “ Home is where the heart is.” I say, “The heart is where home is ” or better yet “the heart is home.” Now, whether this is just some fancy play on words or if those subtle changes in words actually have significance is up to you, but I know for me having “my heart in home” and “home in my heart” is a significant difference. See, love is our true divine home and the heart is where love resides, but love is too abundant & eternal to be tied down to one place, person or thing.   For many Home is considered to be a special place that whenever you feel alone/lost in this world you can turn to and find peace, familiarity, comfort, acceptance and most importantly unconditional love. And I used to share these same sentiments until my “Home away from Home” , Los Angeles provided me with the duality of struggle/discomfort coupled with freedom that I was able to discover/experience what truly constitutes a “Home” . See, when I fi...

Note to Self:”It’s Above me”

Note to Self: “It’s Above Me” (A Word) Now, usually I try & stray from doing the cheesy “preacher spin” on the current culture trends but in true “seeker of truth” nature, when Allah speaks to me I must take heed regardless of its messenger. Ya know the constant reminder that has been consistent throughout my journey of “enlightenment” is that this current world we’re experiencing is an illusionary world. Now, that statement could be confusing with the reality of the universal law of cause and effect such as going outside while it’s raining without an umbrella resulting in one being soak & wet, clearly that is not necessarily an illusion....but, in the next instance the sun could very well come out (which has happened) and if that same individual remains within the rays of the sun long enough then sure enough they will become dry again and practically everything that was caused by the  wetness of the rain will be undone (unless you have 4C hair like me LOL...

Word is Bond

Word Is Bond “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God” (John1:1 )…..if I’m not mistaken I believe scripture is stating that God’s Word is his bond or even that he and all any of us ever truly have is his word, which is sufficient. How many times have you uttered or heard the phrases, “word is bond” or “all I have is my word”? I’m assuming quite enough   but I don’t think we really, fully grasp the spiritual magnitude those phrases holds. At least I know I didn’t up until I found myself back at that messy part of this healing journey, the “pain pit stop”! Where I’m experiencing a new cycle of pain and for a moment was temporarily tempted to “stop & fold at hurt” ( Blog #5, “When It Hurts-It Hurts”) simply because, well honestly, I was hurting. But then I recalled during a previous cycle of pain when I received one of the simplest yet most profound advice to simply “follow my words”. After all, my word is my bond right? See...
